RANDLES, Mrs. Isabella E. of California Gully Bendigo wants to take charge of Philip, the illegitimate child of her late daughter Bessie in 1902.  Her sons in W. Aust. will help financially.  Child currently with nurse Mrs. SHARP.  9 pages, List 18.

RANSON, E. South Melbourne, registered as a nurse, 1893; had one female child, unnamed.

RAVEN, Alice Sophia, Kerang.  Prosecuted for failing to register birth of illegitimate child Henry GURNETT (mother Mary Ann Mabel Gurnett) in her house within required time, but magistrate acquits.  Police prosecution of Richard BROWN for similar offence, child Mary, mother Margaret Brown, held back.  Judge orders case to be reheard, magistrate incorrect.  9 pages, List 18.

RAVEN, Violet, born c1897, illegitimate child of Mrs. T.C. RAVEN of Mackay, was left with Mr. & Mrs. P.C. MOULDER, who adopted her.  The couple parted and Violet was given an elderly couple in Williamstown Vic., to look after, with the Moulders paying for her care.  However they stopped payments a few years later.  In 1910 the mother requested police to help send Violet to her in Qld.  8 pages, List

RAVENHILL, Josephine, registered nurse, South Yarra, notified police that she had received Kathleen McNALLY, daughter of Kate in 1899.  The child was later removed from her care, but she did not keep her Roll Book up to date, so was fined.  14 pages, List 30.

ROBINSON, Susan E., Footscray, 1897, wants to adopt her sister’s child Thomas Gordon DOOLAN.  Letter from child’s mother explains that she has 6 children and her husband is ill.  Report on Robinson states that she “lives with a man not her husband, was convicted of arson and is intemperate”.  Refused.  14 pages, List 20.

Mother charged with manslaughter, but discussion whether Storr should be charged as child was born in her house and birth not registered, 1899.
