Melbourne Cemetery AngelBookings are essential, and the tours are subject to cancellation due to adverse weather conditions.  Tours also leave at different times.  Bookings can be made on  (03) 9890 9288 or 9872 5492. Please note that it is not necessary to have gone on Part 1 of any tour before booking for Parts 2, 3 or 4.

DATES FOR THE FIRST HALF OF 2012.

January 8, 15, 22, 29 : Who was Who, Part 1: Visit the graves of a wide variety of 19th century Victorian characters, from the ghost of the Princess Theatre, to the victim of one of the most sensational murder cases in our history..  (Limited numbers as only one guide is available.)

January , 11, 18 - The Gentle Sex, Part 1
Learn about some 19th century women and the varied lives they led.

February 5, 12,19, 26 – Creative Colonists, Part 1  Visit the graves of journalists, artists and stage performers, all part of the artistic life of 19th century Victoria. (Numbers are limited as only one guide is available.)

March 4,  18, 25 – Who was Who, Part 3  More characters from Victoria’s history feature, including a women’s rights activist, a goldfields pioneer, a famous jockey, a cross dresser and more.  This tour will depart from the  Macpherson St. entrance.

April 1, 15, 22, 29 -Who was Who, Part 4  Another collection of fascinating characters from Victoria’s past, including the first work-class person to be elected to parliament, a philanthropist whose legacies live on today, a well-known author and a famous scientist.

May 6, 27 – Medicos and Misadventures   Hear the tales of 19th century medical men, their patients and the treatments they inflicted on the unfortunate sufferers.

May 20 – Law Makers and Law Breakers  (Held in conjunction with Law Week)  Visit the graves of both those who made the law and those who broke it.

June 3,  24 – Who was Who, Part 2  Politicians, pioneers, unfortunate murder victims and Irish patriots feature on this tour.

No tours are conducted in July and August.

Could group booking secretaries please notify us well in advance of proposed tours; we are taking tentative bookings up to November 2012 at the moment.  It is easier to reserve a particular date and cancel, then try to make a booking at short notice, as the date may have already been taken by another group.
